Inside the Puppy Pen: Day 19

You may notice a change of scenery! Today we moved Patsy and her pups into the living room so that Dolly can get comfortable in our bedroom whelping area. Dolly is due on the 23rd, and this gives her plenty of time to settle in and feel secure before her big day.

As you know, we like to spend the night near the whelping pen before and after delivery. Those first couple of weeks are so important—we keep a close eye to make sure all puppies are nursing well, gaining weight, and thriving. It’s a round-the-clock job, but also one of the most rewarding parts of raising these little ones.

Patsy’s pups are adjusting just fine to the new space. Being in the living room means they get even more exposure to the bustle of family life—new sounds, movement, and everyday activity—all of which helps prepare them for life in their forever homes. This kind of early socialization is part of why we put so much emphasis on raising our puppies right in the heart of our home.
