Inside the Puppy Pen: Day 17

The puppies got a brand-new bed today, and when I stepped into the pen, most of them were already snuggled together in one cozy pile. This is the stage where they begin to learn the difference between a place to sleep and a place to potty—an important first step toward house training.

To help guide them, we’ll start by placing potty pads right outside their bed. As they get the hang of it, we’ll gradually move the pads farther away so they learn to leave their sleeping area when they need to go. Before long, we’ll introduce litterboxes, which not only give them a clear potty space but also help keep the whole pen much cleaner.

It may not look like much right now, but these tiny steps lay the foundation for lifelong habits. Watching them instinctively pile onto their new bed and then begin to figure out the routine is such a sweet reminder of how quickly they grow and learn.
