Age & Stage
Goose is staying with us for our 4 week Puppy Academy. He is just shy of 9 weeks old (he turns 9 weeks Tuesday), and he’s less than a week into his training journey here at SDG. We start the training program at 8 weeks, and Goose is already proving to be a quick learner.
Skills So Far
In under a week, Goose has learned:
Sit – mastered with consistency.
Come – responding very well for his age.
Stay – holding it nicely in short bursts.
Down – brand new this week, but he’s starting to understand.
Current Focus
Right now, Goose’s main priorities are:
Potty training – building reliability with his schedule.
Crate training – learning to settle calmly and confidently.
Core obedience – sit, stay, come, and down.
Door manners – this morning, Goose practiced sitting calmly at the door and staying as I walked out. He did wonderfully.
Loose-leash foundations – he’s working on staying at my side in the yard so when the leash comes on, he already knows to stick close without pulling.
Trainer’s Notes
Goose is a smart, eager puppy who picks up new skills quickly. His calm sit at the door and early leash work show just how fast young pups can learn with consistent guidance. These early lessons lay the foundation for polite manners and smooth leash walking in the future.
