The Herb Litter is now 5 weeks old, and this stage marks some big developmental changes! Their world is opening up quickly, and every day they’re practicing new skills.
Physical Development:
At 5 weeks, puppies are becoming more coordinated. They can walk steadily, start to run in short bursts, and even attempt playful pounces. Their baby teeth are also coming in, which means they’re beginning to chew and explore objects with their mouths.
Social Growth :
This is the age where puppies begin to interact with each other more purposefully. Their play is no longer just clumsy movements — they’re starting to wrestle, paw at each other, and practice little growls and barks. These interactions teach them important lessons about communication and bite inhibition.
Eating & Sleeping Habits:
The litter is now eating “puppy mush” several times a day, though they still nurse from mom. While they continue to spend most of their time sleeping, the periods of wakefulness are longer and filled with much more activity than before. Each day, their play sessions get a little livelier.
Why This Stage Matters:
The 5-week mark is an important bridge between newborn life and the more curious, adventurous stage ahead. During this time, they’re building muscle strength, learning social skills, and adjusting to new foods — all foundations that set the stage for the weeks to come.
