SDG Training Update: Goose – 9.5 Weeks Old

This evening I gave a quick glimpse into Goose’s training session, and he’s doing fantastic for just nine and a half weeks old!

Commands he has mastered thus far:

✔️Sit, Come, Down, and Heel are all coming along beautifully.

✔️He’s excellent at waiting politely at the front door.

✔️“Kennel” is a newer command we’ve added in, and he’s already doing really well with it.

✔️His leash manners are impressive for his age.

House skills:

Goose continues to do fantastic with potty training and kennel training. He’s even sleeping through the night already, which is a big milestone at this stage.

Current focus:

The main thing we’ll be working on next is increasing the duration of his “stay” and helping him hold his commands longer, even when distractions are added. At this age, it’s less about perfection and more about building consistency and confidence.

Socialization outings:

I like to get puppies out about twice a week at this age to experience new places and environments. This week Goose visited the nursing home on Monday (no video this time), and we’ll plan another outing this weekend—probably to Lowe’s. Next week, he’ll have two more adventures to continue his socialization training.

Goose is smart, eager, and such a joy to work with. Watching him grow in his skills and confidence is a reminder of just how much young puppies can learn when given the right foundation!
