Today’s video is a peek into one of our daily desensitization exercises. We played firework sounds while the puppies were sleeping. Even when we gently woke them, they stayed calm and relaxed — exactly what we want to see!
Early exposure to different sounds, textures, and environments helps build confident, adaptable dogs. By introducing things like fireworks, vacuums, and kitchen noises in a calm, safe space, we’re helping their brains form positive associations instead of fear responses.
Tip for new families:
Continue sound desensitization when your puppy comes home. Play a variety of noises — thunderstorms, doorbells, fireworks — at a low volume while they’re calm or playing. Gradually increase the volume over time, always pairing the noise with something positive like treats or play. This keeps your pup confident and helps prevent future noise-related anxiety.
These daily steps may seem small, but they add up to a puppy who is ready to take on the world with a wagging tail.
