Dolly’s puppies may only be two days old, but they are already starting to show their strength and determination. During today’s video, one pup started out on its back, wriggling and kicking until it found its way upright. That little bit of “struggle” is actually an important part of early development.
In these first few days, puppies are building the foundation for muscle tone and coordination. Every push, scoot, and wiggle they make toward mom helps strengthen their legs, neck, and core muscles. These micro workouts are essential for hitting future milestones like crawling, walking, and eventually running.
This competition at the milk bar also encourages problem-solving and persistence. Even though their eyes and ears aren’t open yet, their senses of smell and touch guide them. That ability to work through tiny challenges now helps set the stage for confident, adaptable puppies as they grow.
Dolly is doing a fantastic job keeping everyone fed and cozy, and we’re carefully monitoring weight gains and activity levels to make sure each puppy is thriving. Every day in these first two weeks is a big step forward in their growth and development — and we’ll be sharing it all right here in the Puppy Pen!
Fun Fact: Puppies grow fast in these early days, often doubling their birth weight by the end of their first week. This rapid growth is one of the reasons proper early nutrition is so important — and why momma Dolly gets extra care and high-quality food right now too.
