SDG Training Update: Goose – Building Confidence with Multiple Handlers

ree

Today was a special day for Goose’s training! We had some family over, which gave us the perfect opportunity to introduce him to working with different people. This type of session is incredibly valuable because it helps Goose learn that commands don’t just come from one familiar voice — they can come from anyone he’s interacting with.

By allowing others to participate in his training, Goose is learning generalization, an essential part of a well-rounded obedience foundation. He responded beautifully — listening attentively, following commands, and showing that his focus and respect for training apply no matter who’s giving the cue.

This also builds his confidence and adaptability, key traits for dogs who go on to serve, visit public spaces, or live in active family environments. It’s always impressive to see a young puppy demonstrate consistency and eagerness to please across different handlers — and Goose did just that today!
