Inside the Puppy Pen – Day 33

Updated: Sep 4, 2025

Today’s video shows the puppies enjoying their mush while we do the “puppy call” — that cheerful “puppy, puppy, puppy!” every time the food goes down. This isn’t just for fun; it’s an early step in building recall training.

By pairing the call with something positive, like their meal, the puppies start to associate the sound with a reward. Over time, they’ll learn to come running when they hear it. Later, you can add your chosen recall word, such as “come,” after the puppy call. Eventually, you’ll be able to use only the recall word for a reliable response.

Tip for new owners: When your puppy comes home, continue using the same “puppy call” during meals, treats, or play. This consistency helps solidify the behavior and makes transitioning to your chosen recall word much easier.
