Goose’s 10-Week Socialization: Meeting the Cows

Today’s adventure was all about new experiences! At just 10 weeks old, Goose joined us out in the pasture to meet the cows. It’s not every day a young puppy gets to take in so many new sights, sounds, and smells all at once — from the low rumble of the cows’ voices to the movement of their tails and the crunch of grass underfoot.

For Goose, this was more than just playtime; it was a valuable socialization opportunity. Exposure to large animals helps him learn how to stay calm and observe instead of react — a key trait for confidence and composure as he grows. He showed beautiful instincts: first approaching with gentle, playful gestures, then reading their body language, and finally choosing to settle quietly when they didn’t engage. That quiet patience says a lot about his developing temperament.

Each outing like this builds his resilience and deepens his understanding of the world around him — teaching him to stay grounded, curious, and respectful, even in the midst of big new experiences.
