When it was Limeās turn at the barrier challenge, he showed that food isnāt his biggest motivator. He wanted the food, and he tried to pull it under the gate at first, but once that didnāt work, he quickly lost interest. Instead, his focus shifted to me and the other dogsāhe really just wanted to play or snuggle.
After about nine minutes, I had to encourage him a little more, reminding him that the prize was food. Once he realized that, he finally started eating, but his heart was still mostly in the cuddles and the fun of being with us rather than the puzzle itself.
⨠Fun Fact: Puppies like Lime remind us that motivation can come in many formsānot all pups are driven by food. Some thrive on connection, play, or social interaction, which makes them naturally people-oriented.
